Classic Rock 93.7 The Arrow Keychain
Classic Rock 93.7 The Arrow Keychain
Every city has radio stations. Only a handful become part of the soundtrack of everyday life. For Houston rock fans during the 1990s and early 2000s, KKRW 93.7 “The Arrow” served as a music touchstone—playing the songs everyone knew by heart.
Led Zeppelin. Pink Floyd. Tom Petty. The Rolling Stones. Boston. AC/DC. Lynyrd Skynyrd. You could spend an entire afternoon in traffic on Loop 610 and somehow feel slightly better because "More Than a Feeling" came on at exactly the right moment.
Put another way: If you grew up in Houston and today own a pair of Sperry Topsiders, take a daily statin or have injured your back at any point over the last three years—you probably knew and loved 93.7 The Arrow.
The station understood something important. Classic rock was comfort food for some people. It was the music you turned up while washing your truck, grilling burgers, tackling that DIY project or driving to Galveston with the windows down. The station ran until the end of 2013 when it became 93.7 The Beat.
Promotional items like this keychain were free—handed out at remote broadcasts in the park, “Hands On a Hardbody” events, concerts and more. They hung from countless sets of keys, bounced against ignitions and quietly advertised one of Houston's most recognizable radio brands every time somebody started their Camaro.
The design is wonderfully straightforward. The familiar yellow-and-black Arrow logo sits against a clean white background inside a sturdy acrylic holder that feels unmistakably early-2000s. It's exactly the sort of giveaway you'd clip onto your keys and completely forget about—until twenty years later when it suddenly becomes a tiny time capsule.
The flip side of the keychain shows the cover of the 1981 AC/DC album FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK. We salute you! \m/
This example remains in very good overall condition, with clean, vibrant graphics and surprisingly durable construction. The acrylic is clear and unscratched, and it’s clearly been well cared for. All things considered a good find for anyone who’s feeling bad. And nationwide. That was a ZZ Top reference, c’mon people, work with me.
